Telecom body COAI urges DoT to release pending spectrum urgently

Telecom industry body COAI has urged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to release pending spectrum urgently.

COAI represents GSM telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular, etc.

The telecom industry body, according to a report in Economic Times, sent a letter to DoT secretary Rakesh Garg to take immediate action to release the spectrum and issue unified license.

COAI said the telecom department should take initiative to execute pending tri-partite agreements, which telecom operators enter into with banks / financial institutions and the government to keep their mobile license as collaterals to take loans.
