Tata Docomo the 3rd operator to launch national MNP

Tata Docomo announced it will launch national Mobile Number Portability (MNP) from July 3.

With this announcement, Tata Docomo becomes the third major operator to launch the service this week after Airtel and Vodafone.

Launching the service, Gurinder Singh Sandhu, head Marketing, Tata Teleservices, Limited said “We are expecting a positive uptake on full number portability. Customers can expect a completely seamless experience while porting on to the Tata Docomo network.”

There will be no acquisition fee for MNP. Tata Docomo allows free incoming on roaming on Tata network until the portability request is processed.

Tata Docomo has already ramped-up its subscriber segmentation strategy over the last couple of months’ aligned to delivering an enhanced customer experience.

With MNP, service providers will not be able to restrict calling to local only numbers and similarly, customers cannot opt for local only calling; STD calling option will be activated by default.

The company is going all out to create awareness on availability of full number portability on their network and has invested substantially in network improvement, technology and processes to allow its mobile subscribers to retain their numbers while moving to other cities, Tata Docomo said.
