SK Telecom on Thursday said it launched two pilot projects on Smart Class at Darakam Elementary School and Patumkongka Middle School in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Korean telecom service provider has tied up with a tablet-based educational solutions provider Chungdahm Learning to launch the pilot projects on Smart Class solution that creates a connected classroom environment through telecom technologies and devices like tablet PCs and interactive whiteboards.
From January 2015, SK Telecom will begin applying Smart Class to schools managed by the Ministry of Industry and carry out discussions with other ministries to build Smart Class in their responsible schools.
Kim Yoon-suh, senior vice president in charge of Smart Learning Business at SK Telecom, said: “We will continue to focus on creating new value through IT solutions that help enhance the effectiveness of education.”
In September 2014, SK Telecom has set up Smart Class at public school, located in Baku, the capital city of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This apart, SK Telecom also signed a contract with the Chongqing Group in China to supply Smart Class solution to 1,300 classes in China in June, 2014, and is currently in talks with the Group to expand Smart Class to other schools in China.
