Singapore Telecom taps Ericsson LTE-Advanced for 450 Mbps speed

Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) will use Ericsson’s LTE-Advanced to deploy a tri-band Carrier Aggregation service to deliver 450 Mbps speed to its 4G subscribers.

At present, Singtel uses dual-carrier LTE networks for its 4G services.

Tri-band Carrier Aggregation or three-carrier LTE-Advanced will support Singtel mobile consumers to download applications, games, videos and music files in a shorter time, said Ericsson.

Singtel will deploy the tri-band Carrier Aggregation service in Singapore over the next two years with trials beginning in Q2 2015. Samsung will be device partner for the tri-band Carrier Aggregation trial. New handset models supporting tri-band Carrier Aggregation are expected to be available later this year.
