Rogers Communications acquires Pivot Data Centers and Granite Networks

Rogers Communications, one of the leading data center providers, announced it is acquiring Pivot Data Centers for $155 million and Granite Networks for $6.25 million.

Together, these two businesses currently generate annualized revenues of approximately $30 million.

The acquisition, combined with the company’s previous acquisition of BLACKIRON Data earlier this year, further positions Rogers Business Solutions (RBS) as a leader in data center and hosting services.

Both Pivot Data Centers and Granite Networks provide Rogers Business Solutions with unique opportunities to acquire established data center businesses with significant expansion capacity in prime markets for these services.

The addition of two data center operations will enable Rogers Business Solutions to expand the availability of its reliable and leading-edge data services.

Both organizations will enhance Rogers Business Solutions BLACKIRON Data offering as customers in key markets will now have access to expanded data capacity, managed and cloud service offerings.

The services offered by Pivot Data Centers and Granite Networks will complement Rogers Business Solutions.

Pivot Data Centers operates three colocation facilities in Calgary and Edmonton, with capacity of more than 130,000 square feet. The data center has plans to expand capacity by approximately 85 percent.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Granite Networks provides collocation, managed services and cloud hosting services to business and government clients in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The acquisition of Granite Networks has been completed.

With these acquisitions, BLACKIRON Data, part of Rogers Business Solutions, will own and operate data centers in Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary that will meet Uptime Institute’s Tier III standards.

Earlier this year, Rogers announced the acquisition of BLACKIRON Data to expand its data center and cloud-based business solutions. As a division of Rogers Business Solutions (RBS), BLACKIRON is a pure-play provider of data center, cloud computing and managed services in Canada.
