Reliance Communications revenue dips 1% to Rs 5,355 crore

Telecom network operator Reliance Communications today said its revenue fell 0.9 percent to Rs 5,355 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2015.

For comparison, Q2 revenue of Airtel India rose 10 percent to Rs 17,452 crore. Airtel India generated Rs 13,655 crore (+8 percent) revenue from B2C services. Airtel India clocked Rs 2,026 crore (+19 percent) revenue from enterprise business.

On the other hand, Idea Cellular posted Rs 8,689 crore revenue in the second fiscal quarter of 2016 against Rs 7569 crore in the same period previous year. Net profit of Idea Cellular, promoted by Kumar Mangalam Birla, increased to Rs 809 crore from Rs 755 crore.

Net profit of Reliance Communications rose 1.9 percent to Rs 156 crore. Reliance Communications this week announced its decision to buy small rival MTS India. The loss making MTS India clocked revenue of Rs 1,500 crore in the last 12 months.

Reliance Communications generated Rs 4,701 crore (+0.4 percent) revenue from India and Rs 1,062 crore (+5.5 percent) from international operations.

ARPU of Reliance Communications, fourth-biggest mobile phone carrier by subscribers in India, has increased 0.7 percent to Rs 138. Bharti Airtel clocked ARPU of Rs 193.

The total data customer base of Reliance Communications has grown 25.3 percent to 37.2 million including 19.1 million 3G customers in Q2. For comparison, Airtel had 51 million data customers during the second quarter of fiscal 2016.

The total data traffic of Reliance Communications, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, reached 97.3 billion MB, up 48 percent.
