MWC 2014: Mobily signs $280 mn credit deal with NSN to source 3G, 4G network

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014), Mobily today signed a $280 million credit deal with NSN to source 3G, 4G network.

The export credit facilitated by NSN will enable Mobility to accelerate expansion and modernization of its 4G LTE, 3G and 2G networks between 2014 and 2016. The investment is primarily aimed at improving customer experience and addressing demand for high speed data services.

Khalid AI-Kaf, CEO, Mobily, said: “We are accelerating expansion and upgrading of our 4G LTE, 3G and 2G networks with the latest technology available in the industry by investing additional $280 million over the next 24 months.”

This is second credit facility arranged by NSN to Mobily within a year. The total credit facility touched $605 million by 2014.

On 22 January, 2014, NSN announced its network upgrade and expansion contract with Mobily, Etihad Etisalat Company in Saudi Arabia. NSN will supply Single RAN (radio access network) and comprehensive services, including refarming of the GSM 900 MHz band to 3G. NSN will upgrade Mobily’s 2G, 3G (WCDMA) and TD-LTE networks in the central region including Riyadh, the largest city in the country.
