MTS unveils mobile as point of sale targeting retailers

Telecom Lead India:
MTS India is set to launch a new service called mPOS – Mobile as Point of Sale that will change the way products are
bought and sold in the country.

The mobile user has to put the mPOS attachment (portable
card reader) on an MTS Smartphone or tablet through the 3.5 mm audio jack,
swipe the credit/debit card, enter transaction amount.

This service has been designed to suit the needs of
retailers, home-delivery based service models like e-commerce players, food
chains, pizza delivery outlets and companies into direct sales model like FMCG,
Insurance providers etc and equip them to offer -payment by card option’
to the customers anytime anywhere.

mPOS is an easy to use, hassle free, economical and a mobile
substitute to the conventional credit/debit card swipe machines (Electronic
Data Capture Machines) that works through mobile phones and tablets.

The payments made and received through MTS mPOS are completely
safe and the entire end-to-end solution is PCI (Payment Card industry) DSS
(Data Security Standards) compliant. The details of the Credit/Debit Card
are encrypted at the time of swipe. The application uses Smartphone’s data
connectivity to send the packet out to the host servers. At no point is the
card data saved on the phone or on the mPOS attachment.

MTS in partnership with the solution provider is rolling out
a pilot with India’s leading e-commerce retailers like Flipkart.com and
Yebhi.com and will soon launch this service nationally.
