Co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), this year’s event will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (Gen AI) under the theme “The Future is Now.

IMC 2024 will highlight AI topics, including AI in networks, AI in chipsets, and ethical AI, while hosting over 50 global and Indian speakers across 11 panel discussions. A special session on “AI for Good” will be organized in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), bringing together experts to explore AI’s potential in social and economic progress.

The event will showcase emerging technologies like 6G, quantum technology, IoT, and cybersecurity, alongside the Aspire start-up program, which features over 140 AI-based innovations.

The eighth edition of India Mobile Congress is set to coincide with the World Telecom Standardization Assembly (WTSA) and Global Standards Symposium (GSS) to be held from October 14-24 at the same venue, positioning India at the forefront of global tech evolution.

The latest Omdia report says regulatory tools in the EU such as the Data Act, the Digital Markets Act, and the AI Act all impact the developing AI technology landscape, as well as existing regulations not specifically targeting AI such as the European Electronic Communications Code, net neutrality, data protection and privacy regulations.

“While the use of AI creates many benefits such as improved customer service, optimized network operations, detecting new business opportunities, cost savings, and process automation, there are also numerous risks and challenges to be aware of,” said Sarah McBride, Principal Analyst, Regulation, at Omdia.
