#IMC2017: Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao speech

Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao
Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao has delivered speech at India Mobile Congress (IMC 2017) in Delhi.

Vittorio Colao did not personally attend the largest telecom event in India.

Vodafone India is the largest FDI investor with over 1340 billion rupees invested already. We offered high quality connectivity across India to over 210 million customers and I am very proud that 50 percent of those are in rural areas.

India’s biggest strength we all know is having a very young and talented workforce, work employees and has trained more than 10,000 young Indians. They manage our global networks on behalf of the other operations of Vodafone.

Indian consumers have a strong appetite for data services but still over half a billion people have not connected to the internet and these are a great opportunity for all.

To realize India’s potential as a superpower, it is essential that the telecom sector which is a core driver of economic development is in good health. Telecom will be a key enabler of a future fit India and telecoms will enable other sectors including Healthcare, including Education and Catalyst Innovation.

Our focus is essentially of offers for consumers and business customers. Beyond voice, the focus of Vodafone is into mobile data, in converse services, in cloud services and in IOT.

Our proposed merger with Idea Cellular is the next exciting chapter for Vodafone. We will create a strong champion for digital India which will be, I am sure a great support for the government vision and for the Indian citizen’s ambition.
