By
Telecom Lead Team:

Hughes Network Systems, a provider of broadband satellite solutions and
services, announced it has been awarded a contract to provide airborne and
maritime tactical communications solutions for an international Coalition
partner.

Supporting
intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) initiatives, Hughes will
employ its HX System, a platform that provides full Internet Protocol (IP)
functionality with enhanced security standards to meet the unique requirements
of ISR applications.

“Our
powerful and field proven HX System is ideal for ISR applications, delivering
bandwidth efficient solutions to help reduce costs while also providing the
most advanced communications-on-the-move technologies available to military and
government customers,” said Rick Lober, vice president and general manager
of Hughes
Defense and Intelligence Systems Division.

The
HX architecture employs sophisticated Gateways under a single, comprehensive network
management system with a highly intuitive and interactive user interface,
featuring advanced diagnostics. The system’s bandwidth allocation scheme
ensures optimal utilization of satellite bandwidth by releasing assignments to
idle terminals, resulting in lower operational costs and improved efficiency.
