Globe ties up with Vonage to launch unlimited calling plan

Telecom Lead Asia: Philippines mobile operator Globe
Telecom has partnered with Vonage Holdings, a provider of communication
services, to launch a new calling plan.

The new plan offers unlimited calling all of Globe’s more
than 31 million mobile and wireline subscribers. Furthermore, the plan will
offer Vonage’s ultra-low per minute rate to all other numbers in the
Philippines.

Available for $29.99 per month, The Vonage Unlimited to
Globe Philippines plan will also provide unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada,
Puerto Rico, and 60 other countries around the world.

Vonage has also provided its Vonage Extensions service
that allows calls from mobile phones for no additional charge.

Kimberly O’Loughlin, managing director for International
Markets for Vonage, said its partnership with Globe allows the company
to provide a low-cost, simple to use calling solution for the three and a
half million Filipinos living in the U.S.

The partnership has allowed Vonage’s strategy to expand
internationally. The plan is the result of the recently-announced collaboration
between Vonage and Globe.

The partnership has also allowed Globe to foray into the
VoIP arena for inbound calling from the U.S. The new plan can also be purchased
online, via telesales, and at select Seafood City locations in
California.

Rizza Maniego-Eala, group head for International Business
for Globe Telecom, said this collaboration between Globe and Vonage
presents a firm promise that we will continue to stay attuned to the needs of
our market, developing products that are truly relevant and competitive.
