EE needs Ofcom’s consent to transfer spectrum they hold to another party. Ofcom said its initial view on this proposal is there is a low risk of any competition concerns resulting from this trade.

Ofcom has invited parties to submit details of any competition concerns they believe this trade poses, by 30 October 2020.

Telefonica and Liberty Global in May agreed to merge their British businesses in a $38 billion deal.

The deal will bring together the biggest cable TV provider in Liberty’s Virgin Media with Telefonica’s O2, the second-largest mobile operator in UK.
