Capex of Airtel Africa dips 33% to $66 mn due to lockdown

Airtel Africa achieved 6.9 percent increase in revenue to $851 million during the first fiscal quarter of 2020.

The revenue growth was largely driven by 11.8 percent increase in customer base that reached 111.5 million and ARPU growth of 1.6 percent.

Airtel Africa recorded revenue growth across all the regions: Nigeria up 17.1 percent, East Africa up 17.5 percent and Francophone Africa up 2.2 percent.

Airtel Africa achieved revenue growth across all key segments: voice up 2.2 percent, data up 35.7 percent and mobile money up 26.3 percent.

Capex of Airtel Africa fell 33.6 percent to $66 million from $99 million as a result of lockdown in April and May 2020.
