AT&T

In a statement, AT&T said the licenses cover nearly 50 million people in 14 states — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

This acquisition complements AT&T’s existing AWS holdings. AT&T is adding spectrum in the AWS and other bands to address demand for mobile Internet services.

This spectrum will help AT&T continue to provide a great mobile Internet experience for its customers. AT&T 4G LTE network covers more than 270 million people in more than 500 markets.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval. AT&T anticipates closing the transaction in the second half of 2014.
