America Movil posts the best performance in five quarters

America Movil has posted revenues of 249 billion Mexican pesos (+2.1 percent) in the third quarter of 2018.

America Movil said mobile service revenue shot up 10.5 percent in Brazil and 9.5 percent in Mexico. Mobile ARPU rose 13 percent in Brazil, 11 percent in the U.S. and 8 percent in Mexico.

3.4 percent increase in service revenues in constant exchange rates was the best performance in five quarters.

Service revenues increased 4.7 percent in Mexico, 13 percent in Paraguay and 7.9 percent in Costa Rica.

Data traffic per user rose 78.2 percent doubling in Brazil, Peru and U.S. and expanding more than 60 percent in Mexico, Chile, Ecuador and Guatemala. Voice traffic per user increased 8.8 percent, rising 35 percent in Ecuador, nearly 20 percent in Brazil and in the mid-teens in both Chile and Peru.

Fixed platform service revenues rose 9 percent in Colombia and 4.8 percent in both Chile and Ecuador. Fixed platform service revenues fell by 4 percent in Mexico, 3.2 percent in Brazil and 5.4 percent in Guatemala.

America Movil’s EBITDA was 71.8 billion pesos (+7.7 percent), representing 28.8 percent of revenues. Operating profits increased 23.4 percent to 35.3 billion pesos, while net profit was 18.6 billion pesos in the third quarter.

America Movil said its capital expenditures (Capex) were 91.7 billion pesos. Its debt stood at 584 billion pesos at the end of September, down 45 billion pesos from December. Net debt to EBITDA ratio (LTM) stood at 2.0x in September.

America Movil added 1.1 million post-paid subscribers in the third quarter, including 472 thousand in Brazil, 184 thousand in Mexico and 100 thousand in Colombia. Post-paid base increased 7.6 percent. Fixed-broadband added 284 thousand new accesses in the third quarter of 2018.
