Airtel Rwanda reduces diesel usage by 85 percent

Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel on Friday said Airtel Rwanda reduced diesel usage by 85 percent after implementing Green Kigali initiative in July 2013.

Aimed at reducing its carbon footprint in Rwanda, Green Kigali project leverages the use of green technology.

Airtel Rwanda reduces diesel usage by 85 percent

Airtel Rwanda Country Head Marcellin Paluku said the implementation of the Green Kigali project will enable Airtel to benefit from fuel savings. In addition, savings will translate into maintaining cost effective services whilst promoting environmental consciousness.

In 2012, Airtel Africa won the Best Cost Efficiency Initiative Award at the Africa Com Awards held in Cape Town, South Africa.
