Airtel in pact with Cisco launches managed Room Telepresence service in India

Bharti Airtel has launched managed Room Telepresence service targeted at the small and medium business (SMB) segment in India.

The Indian telco has partnered with Cisco to offer the video-as-a-service (VaaS).

Companies that already have standard definition video can upgrade to Airtel’s High-Definition Telepresence video exchange sessions at Rs. 799/- per day per room.

The service encompasses all essential components of Telepresence video calling including end point, network and VNOC, in addition to 24X7 remote support with end-to-end management.

The pay-as-you-use service adds more value to the small business segment in India that sees greater technology adoption.

According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, MD and head – Commercial Sales at Cisco India & SAARC, adoption of technology among SMBs is directly dependent on bringing down the total cost of ownership and increasing ease of use.

The VaaS has the potential to transform the SMB segment as it empowers customers with a highly scalable integrated video solution at a simplified yet affordable cost, said Manish Prakash, president – Airtel Business.

Airtel also offers the service under a monthly subscription plan. The service will also interoperate with other existing room based as well as device based video conferencing facilities within an enterprise.

Customers subscribing for this plan will also get subscribed for Airtel’s BizNet Video automatically at no additional cost. BiZNet video is the B2B video offering that enables two or more enterprise video platforms to be interconnected for a secure video call on any device, network and platform.
