Airtel fully prepays ₹5,985 crore spectrum dues, cuts debt and interest costs

Bharti Airtel and its subsidiary Bharti Hexacom have fully prepaid Rs. 5,985 crores in spectrum liabilities from the 2024 auctions, reducing debt and interest expenses.

Airtel has prepaid Rs. 25,981 crores for FY 2025 and a total of Rs. 66,665 crores in spectrum liabilities, lowering the average interest rate from 9.74 percent to 7.22 percent on the remaining Rs. 52,000 crores of spectrum dues.

The prepayments, made nearly seven years ahead of schedule, have cleared Rs. 116,405 crores in future installments.

Airtel’s subsidiary Network i2i has also redeemed $1 billion in Perpetual Notes issued in 2020, reducing interest obligations. After this redemption, $479 million in perpetual notes remain, which can be called in FY 2026.
