Airtel expands mobile services in Jammu & Kashmir by entering Kargil

Telecom Lead Asia: Bharti Airtel has expanded its mobile services in Jammu & Kashmir by entering into Kargil district.

Airtel now has network presence across all 22 districts of J&K.

Jagbir Singh – director, Network Services Group, Airtel

Given the extreme weather conditions and rough terrains, the connectivity has been extended to the region through VSAT links and specially designed telecom infrastructure which can be adjusted as per the need in case of any unprecedented weather condition.

Jagbir Singh – director, Network Services Group, Airtel, said Kargil district is known for its inclement weather conditions and remains cut off from the rest of the country for more than 6 months, especially during winters. With this, Airtel becomes the only private operator to have network footprints in the border district of J&K.
