Airtel Payments Bank has added more than 100,000 savings account customers in less than two weeks of starting its pilot services in Rajasthan.

Nearly 70 percent of the over 100,000 accounts opened with Airtel Payments Bank are in rural areas in Rajasthan.

Airtel Payments Bank offers basic banking services utilizing Airtel’s retail network and Airtel retail shops. In Rajasthan, Airtel Payments Bank’s pilot services are available across 10,000 Airtel retail shops. Two-thirds of these banking points across Rajasthan are in rural areas.

Airtel Payments Bank plans a network of 100,000 merchants across Rajasthan by the end of 2016. These merchants will accept digital payments via Airtel Payments Bank using a mobile phone. Airtel Payments Bank will not charge any processing fee from merchants for this facility.

Airtel customers can access Airtel Payments Bank’s banking services on their phones by dialing 8800688006. Airtel mobile customers can also visit any designated Airtel retail outlet to access services in addition to the outlet where they have opened the account.
