Airtel Africa partners with Dialogic for bandwidth optimization

Dialogic, a provider of communications technologies that power advanced networks, announced that the Dialogic I-Gate 4000 EDGE Media Gateway and I-Gate 4000 PRO Media Gateway have been deployed on microwave and satellite portions of Airtel’s African GSM network.

This optimization solution increases voice bandwidth capacity on the same network by eightfold, resulting in significant CAPEX and OPEX savings, while maintaining high quality voice services.

We are excited to provide Airtel with a voice optimization solution that meets its operational needs,” said Kevin Cook, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at Dialogic.

3G networks are beginning to evolve in Africa, and the demand for mobile data will in turn increase bandwidth requirements on service provider networks.

In addition to I-Gate Media Gateways, Dialogic offers more advanced mobile backhaul optimization solution through our Dialogic I-Gate 4000 Session Bandwidth Optimizer Mobile Backhaul (SBO-MB) product, which has been demonstrated in trials to as much as double existing bandwidth for voice and data traffic across existing mobile backhaul networks.
