ZTE outlines strategies for RMB 200 bn revenue by 2020

ZTE SDON solution
Shi Lirong, president, ZTE Corporation, says the telecom network vendor has outlined strategies to grow annual revenue to RMB 200 billion by 2020.

The following is the highlight of a ZTE blog post.

SoftBank, KT Group and China Mobile are some of the 5G partners of ZTE.

ZTE will drive 5G development in China, Japan and South Korea. ZTE aims to achieve strong growth in IP videos through capabilities in network virtualization and cloud-based networks.

It will make breakthroughs in the financial services sector through Big Data Analytics and Distributed Data Center technologies.

In the first three quarters, ZTE increased revenue per employee by 10 percent.

ZTE says its R&D spending is expected to exceed RMB 10 billion in 2015, ranking among the Top-3 in China, and among the world’s Top-80 companies.

In the first three quarters, ZTE invested 12 percent of revenue in R&D, the highest ratio in its history.

ZTE generates a quarter of its revenue in Europe and North America. The company competes with Huawei, Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Networks in the telecom network space.

ZTE strategies for growth

ZTE has a revenue target of RMB 200 billion by 2020.

ZTE targets to tap opportunities arising from investment by European companies to use Digital technologies to transform entire industries and increase productivity.

New reform programs formulated by the Chinese government including the Made in China 2025 plan, as well as international initiatives such as “One Belt, One Road” and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will provide technology companies like ZTE with market opportunities.

ZTE Microelectronics was ranked No. 5 among semiconductor companies in China, with revenue of more than RMB 3 billion in 2014. ZTE is committed to further grow semiconductor operations to become a top 3 player this year. Each year, China imports more than $200 billion of semiconductor products.

ZTE is evolving to Smart City 3.0, which will deploy Big Data Analytics capabilities to help companies create more valuable public services for users.

ZTE will offer improved incentives to employees rated among the Top 10 percent of the company, and we will be actively recruiting new employees totaling around 10 percent of our current headcount.

As ZTE diversifies our business operations in other sectors under our M-ICT strategy, the company will bring in people outside the telecommunications industry, as we add new expertise and skillsets in areas such as New Energy, Autos and the Internet.
