Zhone Technologies unveils new zNID active Ethernet product

Zhone
Technologies, a global provider of FTTx network access solutions, announced the
launch of its new zNID 24xx GE Optical Network Terminals (ONTs).

The new
Active Ethernet indoor ONTs, part of the zNID 24xx series indoor ONTs, provide
a cost-efficient, high performance solution for delivering high bandwidth
services.

“Following
the launch of the zNID GPON indoor ONTs last month, we are pleased to introduce
our new zNID Active Ethernet indoor ONTs,” said Brian Caskey, chief marketing
officer of Zhone.

“We
understand the increased competition, pricing pressures and budget limitations
faced by our customers. On the other hand, the demands for high bandwidth
services and applications keep growing. Understanding this position and
leveraging our deep industry experience, we continue to provide robust, cost
efficient FTTx products and solutions that differentiate the offerings of our
customers globally. The new series of zNID Active Ethernet ONTs provide a highly
competitive price point while providing a future-proof solution for complex
media-rich applications,” Caskey added.

Zhone’s zNID
Active Ethernet indoor ONT portfolio is designed to meet the needs of the
bandwidth intensive services being deployed to homes and businesses.

Integrating
and leveraging the Zhone Management System (ZMS) and Zhone EZ Touch
Provisioning System, the new indoor ONTs are ideal for distances up to 20 kms,
provide multiple POTS and GE port options, WiFi and IP Video support, wire-speed
bridging and routing functionality and can be conveniently deployed on the
desktop or wall-mounted.
