Vodafone selects Alcatel-Lucent as supplier of reference for LTE metro cells

Vodafone Group – as part of Project Spring program — has selected Alcatel-Lucent as a supplier of reference for LTE metro cells with integrated Wi-Fi capability.

As supplier of reference, Alcatel-Lucent can bid on business in all Vodafone countries with its Metro Cell Outdoor small cell products.

The development does not mean immediate business to Alcatel-Lucent.

The use of small cells will enable Vodafone, which is committed to develop multi-vendor heterogeneous networks (Hetnets) to provide better customer experience, to bring connections closer to the end user, ensuring high quality mobile broadband experience.

Earlier, Alcatel-Lucent deployed residential and enterprise small cells in multiple properties for Vodafone.

Also, Alcatel-Lucent, which has more than 115 small cell contracts in over 45 countries, conducted small cells trial in the Netherlands.
