As part of the initiative, VNPT is deploying Nokia’s AirScale portfolio, powered by the energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. This enables VNPT to deliver premium connectivity, lower latency, and higher network capacity while reducing energy consumption. In addition, Nokia provides network management services to maintain optimal performance and reliability.

The upgrades are expected to boost mobile coverage quality, especially in border provinces and major economic and social hubs, allowing both individuals and businesses better access to telecom and digital services. This supports Vietnam’s broader digital transformation goals and economic growth ambitions. Financial details were not disclosed.

The partnership is further strengthened by Nokia’s decision to make Vietnam a manufacturing hub for AirScale equipment, supplying both domestic and international markets. This not only reinforces VNPT’s network capabilities but also contributes to local economic development and regional supply chains.

VNPT’s CEO, Huynh Quang Liem, highlighted that the partnership is critical to delivering world-class connectivity and supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation, while Nokia emphasized that its technology enables faster, more reliable services, improving access to essential digital services and enhancing quality of life.

Capital Investment:

VNPT has been actively investing in network infrastructure to enhance its services. In 2025, the Vietnamese government introduced a 15 percent capital investment subsidy for operators deploying over 20,000 base stations, aiming to accelerate the expansion of 5G networks.

Subscriber Base:

VNPT’s mobile service subsidiary, VinaPhone, has experienced substantial growth in its subscriber base. As of early 2025, VinaPhone reported 3 million active 5G users, with a total of 5 million subscribers using 5G-enabled devices. By mid-2025, this number had increased to 5.5 million 5G users, reflecting the rapid adoption of 5G services.

Additionally, VNPT has over 30 million mobile subscribers and 8 million broadband subscriptions, making it one of the dominant communication service providers in Vietnam.

Strategic Developments:

In line with its growth objectives, VNPT has been expanding its scope and capacity for Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G connections, targeting over 60 million connections by 2025 and aiming for over 100 million by 2030.
