UTStarcom brings MPLS-TP and carrier Ethernet-based packet optical transport network product

UTStarcom today announced MPLS-TP and carrier Ethernet-based packet optical transport network product for telecoms.

The official launch of its TN765 packet optical transport product, which will be used to support the network of a tier-one telecom carrier in Japan, will strengthen its presence in the mobile network infrastructure business. In August 2013, UTStarcom introduced the TN701, an Ethernet Access Device (EAD).

UTStarcom did not share the name of the Japanese telecom which is using TN765 packet optical transport product. The company said the Japanese telecoms has one of the advanced mobile and fixed line Internet and communications networks worldwide.

“We continue to expand the TN700 series product platform with innovations that demonstrate our technical leadership and further strengthen our competitive market position,” said William Wong,  chief executive officer of UTStarcom.

UTStarcom’s latest broadband technology innovations are specifically geared toward the advanced needs of its customer base of telecommunications and broadband service providers who need to bulk up their networks to handle 4G traffic and meet consumers’ growing desire for mobile, video and “on demand” entertainment.

The TN700 line offers new features to allow quicker deployment, greater reliability and improved network operational efficiency, while reducing cost significantly.

TN765 product offers enhanced throughput (1Tbps) to support higher aggregation levels, 100 GE interface support and multiple 10GE interfaces for more efficient network deployment.
