UTStarcom appoints Cisco veteran Vikas Giridhar as GM

UTStarcom, a telecom infrastructure company, has appointed Cisco veteran Vikas Giridhar as general manager – Sales to look after North India operations.
He will be reporting to Rahul Pandey, director (S&M), UTStarcom India.
UTStarcom plans to double its employee strength in 2015.
Prior to joining UTStarcom, Vikas served as the sales lead – Wi-Fi, SDN and Optical Business – Asia Pacific, Japan & China, with Cisco.

UTStarcom CEO William Wong said: “As government initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, NOFN, WI-FI deployment are driving the Indian telecom market upsurge, UTStarcom plans to expand in India and support such initiatives.”
In addition to Cisco, Vikas worked with Motorola, Avaya Global Connect, 3D Networks, a Wipro Company, Alcatel Business Systems India and Godrej India.
