True selects Ericsson dual band dot for indoor coverage in Thailand

Ericsson signs 3G and 4G deal with Thailand telecoms True Mobile
True has selected telecom technology major Ericsson for the world’s first major Dual Band Dot solution network to enhance indoor coverage in Thailand.

Ericsson said the nationwide network enables True to provide cost effective and high performing indoor networks, with multiband deployments and carrier aggregation.

The Dual Band Dot, which is part of the Ericsson Radio Dot System portfolio, combines two frequency bands in one Dot to simplify deployment, reduce cabling costs, and leverage available spectrum. The Dual Band Dot enables multi-band deployments and Carrier Aggregation, which is important in 5G readiness.

True will install these Dots from May 2017, focusing on the northern, southern, and central regions of Thailand. The first deployments will be in hospitals, shopping malls, and hotels.

“In-building coverage is very crucial to the success of mobile operator. Ericsson dot system provide flexibility of installation, less footprint and fast time to provide in building coverage. With the dual band and carrier aggregation capability it provides capacity and customer experience,” said Pakpong Akaniwan, chief technology officer of True.
