ToledoTelhas deploys Calix 844G GigaCenters

ToledoTelhas, a regional broadband operator, has deployed the Calix 844G GigaCenters in Mt. Saint Helens in southern Washington, U.S.

As part of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project, ToledoTel is utilizing the 844G GigaCenters to offer broadband to its device-enabled subscribers over both gigabit passive optical network (GPON) and Carrier Class Wi-Fi technologies to more than 30 new premises per week.

The company is currently in the process of rolling out FiberNet service to all subscribers in its service area by the end of 2015.

“The Calix GigaCenters have brought our customers significantly enhanced throughput and Wi-Fi coverage over previous generations of Wi-Fi technology,” said Dale Merten, chief operating officer of ToldeoTel.

ToldeoTel is also planning to add Calix Compass Consumer Connect software to network to remotely monitor and manage the subscriber’s Wi-Fi performance across each connected device.

This apart, the Carrier Class Wi-Fi performance of the 844G GigaCenters will enable ToldeoTel to wirelessly connect Roku streaming TV service in the home. This Wi-Fi connected model will result in significant installation cost savings for the company.

John Colvin, senior vice president of North American sales at Calix, said: “By adding GigaCenters and Compass, ToledoTel will leverage this infrastructure investment, and extend it to become the connection point of choice across the wireless and wireline services.”
