Thuraya Completes System Migration to Ericsson OSS BSS

Ericsson and Thuraya, the United Arab Emirates-based mobile satellite services operator and the mobility arm of Yahsat, have announced the completion of the migration and upgrade from legacy systems to the latest solutions offered by the Ericsson Business and Operations Support Systems portfolio.

This move has optimized system performance and provided Thuraya with increased flexibility, faster time-to-market, reduced lead times, and enhanced service experiences for its users. The modernization effort is expected to unlock new revenue streams for Thuraya, offering heightened value to both enterprises and partners.

Khalid Al Kaf, Chief Operations Officer of Yahsat, expressed the significance of the upgrade, stating, “The modernization of Thuraya’s Business Support Systems to the latest Ericsson products is a step towards strengthening the resilience of our network and enhancing the network’s performance.”

“Thuraya’s migration to Ericsson’s latest charging and billing systems amplifies its service experience capabilities and sets a new industry benchmark, ensuring the satellite service provider delivers reliable and efficient services to consumers and enterprises on a global scale,” Nicolas Blixell, Vice President and Head of Ericsson Gulf Council Countries, said in a news statement.
