Telefonica Spain taps Juniper Networks for wireline IP broadband platform

Telefonica Spain has tapped Juniper Networks for deploying its wireline IP broadband access platform.

The telecom operator used Juniper Networks MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers. ( NTT deploys Juniper Networks T1600 Core Router to power video transmission system )

Telefonica’s Next Generation Access Center — built around a fiber optic deployment — is designed to offer high-speed residential and business broadband services in Spain.

“The MX960 enables Telefónica Spain to increase the value of its broadband deployments and maximize average revenue per user, while its subscribers enjoy a superior service,” said Mike Marcellin, senior vice president, strategy and marketing, Platform Systems Division, Juniper Networks. ( China Mobile and AT&T test Juniper Networks SDN solutions )

Meanwhile, Cisco recently said Telefonica Global Solutions have completed 100G trial. The 100G trial covering 4,000 kilometers was aimed at enhancing available bandwidth, simplifying network operations, reducing capital expenses, and helping user in a new generation of consumer and business services.
