Telcordia leads in convergent charging market

Telcordia announced that it has been named the global
revenue leader in the convergent charging software and services market by
analyst firm Infonetics Research.

With 15.4 percent of the market share in a $862.3 million
segment, Telcordia was the fastest growing vendor by revenue in 2010, finishing
in the number-one spot.

The convergent charging software and services is likely
to grow to $3.3 billion by 2015, driven in large part by communications service
providers’ (CSPs’) need to support multiple services with a single payment
system.

Telcordia’s presence in India is translating to rapid
license revenue.

Convergent charging represents a way for operators to
enable convergence without necessarily needing to do a billing forklift
project. Telcordia considers that convergence is more than prepaid and
postpaid, but over five types of convergence are emerging; Mobile/Fixed,
Pre/Postpaid, 2G/3G/4G, GSM/CDMA, and TV.

By implementing convergent charging capabilities,
operators can accelerate time to market, profitability and an interactive
customer experience.

Telcordia has
gained traction in emerging markets, where operators want to expand their
business and deliver multi-play offerings to drive customer acquisition,”
said Shira Levine, directing analyst, Next Gen OSS and Policy at Infonetics
Research.

“With its market leadership, Telcordia is well
positioned to capitalize on a segment that grew by 37 percent last year and
will continue a steady growth trajectory for the next five years,” Levine
added.

“This recognition validates the innovative Converged
Charging work that Telcordia has  performed in emerging markets all over
the world, but especially in India, where our solutions manage 30 percent of
the country’s new subscribers, which numbers more than one hundred
million,” said Michael Wojcik, president, Service Delivery Solutions,
Telcordia.

“The key to success is helping our service provider
customers apply flexible, real-time, customerspecific rating and charging
features that deliver a consistent customer experience. Telcordia Converged
Charging makes it easy and affordable to apply tailored promotions, features,
rate plans and cross-product bundles to any type of customer account,”
Wojcik added.
