Panduit to demo 40 Gigabit Ethernet transmission at Cisco Live

Telecom Lead America: Panduit Corp, a provider
of Unified Physical Infrastructure (UPI)-based solutions will showcase 40
gigabit Ethernet over 1 kilometer of multimode optical fiber at Cisco Live in
San Diego, CA June 10-14.

The technology display will be the longest distance
Ethernet transmission of its kind. In addition, the company said that it is a
Platinum Sponsor of this year’s e Cisco Live.

The demonstration will use 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ Ethernet
optical modules from Avago Technologies.

The Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System gives
network architects and data center managers the flexibility to reduce capital
expenditures while providing increased network flexibility,” said Ian Brown,
director of Fiber Optic Products at Panduit.

Furthermore, the company said that during the demo
traffic will be generated and verified by an Ixia XM2 chassis outfitted with
Xcellon-Lava Dual-Speed, 40/100GE Higher Speed Ethernet Load Module with
Panduit Signature Core multimode fibercabling and low-loss MTP
connectors.

The Panduit Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling
System maintains signal integrity beyond that of all other types of multimode
fiber.

The company claims that the technology provides network
architects with the flexibility to deploy less expensive multimode fiber links
versus more expensive singlemode links – a savings in excess of $1,000 per
link.

The company said that the physical area of 40GbE-based
fabric architecture can be enlarged by a 25 percent through the performance of
Signature Core multimode fiber.

The technology can enable data center managers to
position the data center physical infrastructure for rapid future growth.

Panduit High Speed Data Transport (HSDT) solutions are
designed for high-density/high-speed applications. The company said it help
ensure high network performance, system reliability and energy efficiency.
