This acquisition aligns with Nokia’s strategy to lead the API ecosystem and advance its network API product roadmap. The financial specifics of the acquisition remain undisclosed.

Following major investments in 5G, operators are leveraging network APIs to monetize network capabilities by providing standardized access to developers for new applications across consumer, enterprise, and industrial sectors.

Integrating Rapid’s API tech with Nokia’s Network as Code platform will allow operators to manage API usage, exposure, and lifecycle. This will further facilitate seamless network integration and collaboration on a global API marketplace.

Nokia’s Network as Code platform, launched in September 2023, has already gained significant traction, partnering with 27 global entities, including BT, DISH, Google Cloud, Orange, and Telefonica.

Nokia’s Raghav Sahgal emphasized that Rapid’s assets will strengthen Nokia’s capacity to build a robust API platform, expanding value creation for operators.

Rapid CEO Marc Friend highlighted the synergy between Rapid’s API tech and Nokia’s scale and expertise, which will foster API ecosystem growth.

Rapid’s public API marketplace enables developers to design, build, and monetize APIs, creating a collaborative environment for API-driven innovation.
