NBN renews managed services contract with Ericsson till 2020

ericsson-technology-for-telecomsEricsson announced its new fixed wireless and Sky Muster managed services contract with Australia’s NBN Co till 2020.

Ericsson, as part of the managed services deal, will be responsible for nbn fixed wireless network operations, ground systems operations for Sky Muster – the operator’s satellite service – as well as customer connections and assurance for both technologies.

Ericsson competes with Huawei, Nokia and ZTE for signing such large managed services deal with telecom operators worldwide.

In 2011, Ericsson bagged the first managed services contract from NBN Co to build and operate a fixed-wireless broadband network based on TD-LTE technology.

In 2014, NBN Co expanded the managed services contract with Ericsson to include operation of the ground component of NBN Co’s satellite solution and end user connections and assurance services.

NBN Co’s fixed wireless and Sky Muster services cover more than 980,000 homes in regional and remote Australia with more than 290,000 homes connected to broadband services via NBN Co’s retail service providers.

NBN Co, owned by the Commonwealth of Australia as a Government Business Enterprise (GBE), created as a wholesale fixed broadband service provider to implement the Australian Federal Government’s national broadband policy. It is.
