Mavenir appoints Sanjay Bakaya to head India / South Asia

Mavenir, a global provider of Cloud RAN, vEPC and IMS Core and RCS/MaaP for telecom operators, announced the appointment of Sanjay Bakaya as the regional vice president for India / South Asia.

Before joining Mavenir, Sanjay Bakaya was with Vanu, as the head of Sales for Asia Pacific region for RAN product and services. Prior to Vanu, Sanjay Bakaya held key positions at Motorola in his 14-year tenure.

The appointment of an industry veteran is part of the company to expand business in India and South Asia. India has telecom operators such as BSNL, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio.

“The telco industry in this market has a clear opportunity to transform the way networks are engineered, deployed and operated. Mavenir is focused on helping operators transform their mobile network economics, with efficiencies, speed, scalability and platforms for revenue growth and cost reduction,” Pardeep Kohli, president and CEO of Mavenir, said.

Mavenir, which is popular among telecom operators as the supplier of choice for IMS / VoLTE, aims to expand into radio and packet core.

Mavenir said it has over 1,300 people in India / South Asia region with offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurugram with plans to expand its R&D Center at Bengaluru.
