LodgeNet Broadband adds Corning MobileAccess In-Building Cellular

LodgeNet Broadband, a unit of LodgeNet Interactive
Corporation, announced the addition of the MobileAccessVE in-building
wireless solution to their growing portfolio of products following the
completion of the Corning MobileAccess solutions
certification program.

“Having adequate in-building cellular voice and data
signal connectivity from mobile operators is a growing need for all
hotels,” said Steve Pofahl, general manager of LodgeNet Broadband.

“With the vast majority of cellular connections and
mobile data downloads being made inside of meeting and hotel rooms, the need
for clear, strong signals is extremely important to the hotel business. The
MobileAccessVE solution installs in days instead of months, right onto existing
HSIA (LAN) structured cabling, and it is certified by Cisco as 100 percent
compatible, bringing a higher level of guest satisfaction to hoteliers,”
Pofahl added.

The MobileAccessVE solution takes advantage of existing Cat5e/6 LAN cabling for cellular signal
distribution, while maintaining full Ethernet and wireless LAN capabilities.
This cost-effective approach does not consume LAN capacity and minimizes the
disruption and deployment costs associated with new cabling projects and
conventional DAS infrastructure solutions.

“Conventional cellular antenna systems were hard to
justify for many hotels because of costs and disruption associated with
breaking open walls and pulling new cabling. However, MobileAccessVE is a
perfect fit since it re-uses existing cabling commonly found in almost all
hotels,” said Jeff Kunst, vice-president of Product Management for Corning
MobileAccess.
