Huawei has introduced its FusionServer Pro 2298 V5, a 2U 2-socket storage rack server that provides up to 450 TB storage capacity, targeting telecoms and Internet providers.
Intel Xeon Scalable processor powers the FusionServer Pro 2298 V5 storage server. The new server from Huawei supports Intel Optane DC persistent memory (DCPMM), said China-based Huawei in a statement.
Huawei has shipped 4.31 million units Huawei x86-based servers from 2012 to 2019, says Gartner. The sales performance peaked in 2019 when the Huawei 4-socket servers topped the world in terms of shipment and sales volumes for that year.
Huawei has generated quarterly revenue of $1.284 billion from server business during the fourth quarter of 2019, according to IDC. Huawei has 5.1 percent share in the global server market during the fourth quarter. Huawei competes with HPE, Dell Technologies, IBM, Inspur and Lenovo in the $100 billion plus server market globally.
The Cascade Lake Refresh processor offers a base frequency up to 3.9 GHz with a 4.5 GHz turbo boost, Huawei said on Tuesday. It supports more cores and provides higher hyper-threading processing capabilities, delivering a performance that is 36 percent higher than its predecessors.
The FusionServer Pro 2298 V5 can house 24 3.5-inch and 4 2.5-inch drives, as well as 4 NVMe SSDs, in a 2U space, providing up to 450 TB storage capacity. It offers high density, performance, and scalability for enterprise customers.

The largest telecom network maker said Huawei-patented Dynamic Energy Management Technology (DEMT) automatically monitors resource usage based on service loads and dynamically adjusts the minimum power based on resource utilization for solid and reliable server running.
