Huawei demos NEtwork MOdeling language and OpenNH

Huawei has demonstrated its user-oriented Software-defined Networking (SDN), NEMO (NEtwork MOdeling) language and Open Network Hypervisor (OpenNH) during the Open Networking Summit 2015 in California, the United States.

NEMO facilitates enterprise users and over-the-top providers with deploying desired scenarios without the need for complex SDN North-bound Interfaces (NBI) or network implementation and deployment details.

Through eliminating service complexity caused by diverse devices, NEMO enables the SDN controller to automatically allocate network resources, provision services, and resolve conflicts between network resources and services.

NEMO, which uses a top-down design approach, focuses on users’ operation and application needs, resulting in a user friendly system. Users describe their network needs which are also identified by using NEMO, and SDN controllers are able to implement complex operations such as resource allocation and network performance monitoring.

The solution translates users’ service behaviors on the network into operations on network objects through NEMO’s modeling and network programming capabilities. These come from abstracting and summarizing network capabilities and resources.

Huawei in a statement said that the OpenNH is a SDN-based tenant virtual network solution which supports operators with accelerating service deployment, providing innovative open networks and enhancing secure separation between tenants, and reducing operation costs. It will bring new business opportunities for network operators, data centers, and virtual operators.

To meet the demands from cloud computing and virtualized technology concepts, Huawei OpenNH provides a physical network resource sharing capability for the next-generation open virtualized platform.
