Huawei announces Gigaband development strategy

Ryan Ding of Huawei

Telecom network vendor Huawei today announced its Gigaband development strategy at Ultra-Broadband Forum 2015.

The strategy represents Huawei’s commitment to opening ROADS (Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social) to build a better connected world by working with industry players and driving the ultra-broadband industry into the Gigaband era.

Huawei, which competes with Ericsson, Nokia Networks, ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent, says global telecom network operators need to formulate network development strategies to support the evolution and build data center-based ultra-broadband networks. Operators should increase investment in Gigaband applications to realize the value of Gigaband networks and form a healthy UBB industry circle.

Huawei is researching and innovating access technologies for upgrading broadband from 100M to 1000M.

Gigaband networks will cover over 90 percent of households by 2020 making the ubiquitous ROADS experience possible.

“Huawei has adopted the vMOS system to quantize video experience indicators and form a unified video experience standard, to assess and measure the quality of operator networks using the high-quality video experience benchmark,” said Ding Yun, president of Huawei Products & Solutions.

Recently, a telecom analysis report said Huawei has overtaken Ericsson as the largest mobile infrastructure vendor in H1 2015.
