HP announced it has named Bethany Mayer to serve as senior vice president and general manager of the HP Networking business unit.
Mayer, who has served as the unit’s interim leader for the past four months, oversees HP Networking’s worldwide operations, reporting to Dave Donatelli, executive vice president and general manager of Enterprise Servers, Storage, Networking and Technology Services at HP.
Bethany’s networking and business experience will help HP to continue to advance market share gains while transforming the industry by delivering superior products at greater value to clients,” said Donatelli.
During her interim leadership of HP Networking, Bethany exceeded performance goals resulting in our seventh straight quarter of double-digit growth,” Donatelli added.
Mayer has recently led several successful product launches, including new networking solutions for small and midsize businesses, virtualized networking solutions and HP TippingPoint network security offerings.
She has strengthened HP Networking’s position as the No. two vendor in the networking market. HP is one of only two vendors worldwide with double-digit market share. HP FlexNetwork architecture enables customers to deliver higher-bandwidth, greater-performing networks that are easier to manage and use less equipment.
Prior to HP, Mayer was vice president of Marketing for Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking at HP, where she drove programs that helped lead to 14.6 percent revenue growth year over year in the first three quarters of fiscal year 2011 compared to the same period last year while increasing awareness and market adoption of the HP Converged Infrastructure portfolio.
Mayer has held numerous executive positions during her more than 25 years of industry experience in leading product management, marketing communications, operations and engineering at organizations ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations.
Recently, HP announced that its board of directors has appointed Meg Whitman as president and chief executive officer.
In addition, Ray Lane has moved from non-executive chairman to executive chairman of the board of directors, and the board intends to appoint a lead independent director promptly.
