Gregg Lowe appointed as president and CEO of Freescale Semiconductor

Telecom Lead India: Freescale Semiconductor announced
Gregg A. Lowe has been appointed as president and CEO of the company effective
immediately.

 

Prior to joining Freescale Lowe was working with Texas
Instruments where he served as senior vice president and manager of the Analog
business.

 

Freescale board has also appointed J. Daniel
McCranie as non-executive chairman of the board of directors. McCranie
currently serves on Freescale’s board of directors.

 

Rich Beyer, who previously served as Freescale’s chairman
and CEO, will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors to ensure a
smooth transition.

 

  On behalf of the board of directors, I am pleased
to welcome Gregg to Freescale,” said McCranie. Gregg is a proven leader and
his extensive semiconductor experience makes him uniquely qualified to build
upon Freescale’s strong foundation, leading the company to our next stage of
growth.”

Freescale unveils baseband-to-antenna reference design for
small cell base stations


Recently Freescale Semiconductor announced a new
reference design for small office/home office (SOHO) base station applications.

 

The baseband-to-antenna reference design combines the
QorIQ Qonverge BSC9131 base station system-on-chip (SoC) with Freescale RF
radio boards, and is a multi-protocol solution that scales across a range of
cellular bands to ease developers’ transition from 3G to 4G LTE.
