Ericsson to provide 5G NFV infrastructure to Telkomsel

TelkomselEricsson announced that Indonesia’s largest mobile service provider Telkomsel has selected Ericsson’s NFV infrastructure (NFVI) core network technology for a major core network upgrade towards 5G deployment.

The deployment also includes Ericsson Cloud Packet Core, which along with NFVI, will help the telco meet the evolving needs of its customers and enable the swift deployment of future new use cases and innovative solutions.”

Ivan C Permana, vice president, Network Cloud Management, Telkomsel, said,“Cloud solutions will help meet the growing demand for new network services to enhance productivity and efficiency. Ericsson’s NFVI solution is ready for 5G technology and IoT, which will be of use to all operators and enterprise customers.”

Apart from higher speed, efficiency and lower latency, the network upgrade will enable faster data transfer, dedicated network slicing and optimal distribution of the network’s core capabilities. This will support the new trends like Edge computing as well as boost the network monetization efforts.
