Ericsson has introduced its Compact Packet Core, a footprint-optimized solution designed to modernize communication service providers’ (CSPs) Packet Core networks for seamless cloud-native adoption in 4G and 5G.
The new solution includes the cloud-native Packet Core Controller (PCC) and Packet Core Gateway (PCG), housed within a compact, one-rack infrastructure. Pre-integrated with pre-defined configurations, it streamlines deployment, upgrades, and migrations, reducing complexity by up to 80% and hardware footprint by 30%.
The solution supports 4G, 5G non-standalone (NSA), and 5G standalone (SA) networks with optimized configurations for faster deployments. With automation, in-service upgrades, and energy-efficient designs, it improves efficiency.
The future-ready solution provides CSPs with a scalable, flexible platform to meet growing capacity demands and enable new use cases.
Monica Zethzon, head of Solution Area Core Networks at Ericsson, stated, “This solution transforms network modernization by simplifying cloud-native upgrades and unlocking the full potential of our cutting-edge software.”
With over 120 cloud-native contracts and powering 37 of the 60+ live 5G SA networks globally, Ericsson’s Compact Packet Core reinforces the company’s expertise in delivering 5G core infrastructure solutions to accelerate the CSPs’ cloud-native journeys.
