Ericsson signs 7-year managed services contract with Romtelecom and Cosmote

Telecom network vendor Ericsson today announced its 7-year managed services contract with Romanian mobile operators Romtelecom and Cosmote, two subsidiaries of OTE.

As per the managed services agreement, Ericsson will manage the telecom operators’ wireline and wireless networks in Romania.

For Ericsson, the new managed services deal in Romania is a new agreement with Cosmote Romania and an extension contract with Romtelecom.

Ericsson in a statement today said it will assume responsibility for network operations and maintenance of wireline and wireless access, transmission, core and IP domains, as well as network operations for operations support systems.

As part of the deal, around 730 employees will join Ericsson’s Global Services organization.

Nikolai Beckers, chief executive officer Romtelecom & Cosmote Romania, said: “The Managed Services concept represents a business model aimed at improving focus on core activities while obtaining increased cost efficiency. Our continuous endeavor to operate better, faster and more efficient, while offering customer excellence, determined us to go with this option.”
