Ericsson Names Yossi Cohen as Head of North America Market

Ericsson has announced the appointment of Niklas Heuveldop, the current Senior Vice President and head of Market Area North America, as the new Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform and CEO of Vonage.
Verizon 5G network by EricssonNiklas Heuveldop, who has played a pivotal role in steering Ericsson’s success in North America since 2017, is slated to assume his new responsibilities starting February 1, 2024.

During Niklas Heuveldop’s tenure, Ericsson witnessed substantial growth in North America, solidifying its market presence by expanding its share with key customers in the region. Notably, his leadership culminated in the landmark USD 14 billion deal with AT&T, further establishing Ericsson’s influence in the telecommunications industry.

To fill the void left by Niklas Heuveldop’s transition, Yossi Cohen, currently serving as Head of Strategy, Technology, Marketing, and Business Development within Market Area North America, has been appointed as the new Head of Market Area North America.

Yossi Cohen, boasting a diverse 22-year career at Ericsson, brings a wealth of experience in Technology, Business, Operations, and Innovation. His past roles include Head of Customer Unit Verizon, Global Head of Radio Sales and Business Management in Stockholm, and Head of Global Customer Unit Softbank in Tokyo.

Simultaneously, Rory Read, the outgoing Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform and CEO of Vonage, is set to step down from his role on February 1, 2024. However, Rory Read will continue to contribute to the company in an advisory capacity within the Business Area. His departure from Ericsson is expected at the close of the first quarter of 2024.

This series of executive changes reflects Ericsson’s commitment to strategic leadership transitions and underscores the company’s dedication to sustaining and expanding its global influence in the ever-evolving communications technology landscape.
