Ericsson leads Q1 2014 microwave transmission market, ahead of Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, NEC

Telecom network vendor Ericsson continues to lead the microwave transmission market in Q1 2014, ahead of Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent and NEC.

However, Ericsson microwave transmission revenue decreased 6 percent in Q1 2014 over Q1 2013, while Huawei revenue dipped 15 percent and NEC decline 2 percent. Alcatel-Lucent’s performance was better than the other its rival with the French network vendor showing flat growth in the first quarter.

Dell’Oro Group said the microwave transmission equipment market declined 10 percent during the first quarter of 2014.

Jimmy Yu, vice president of Microwave Transmission research at Dell’Oro Group, said: “We think things will improve as we enter the second half of the year, but this is largely dependent on improving conditions in two of the primary microwave market regions, Europe and India.”

The research report said packet microwave revenue grew 13 percent.
