Ericsson President and CEO Borje Ekholm today revealed that the company has 86 5G deals and 27 live networks in 4 continents.
“Ericsson is leading the 5G development. I see no one in front of us,” Borje Ekholm said at of the company’s annual general meeting.
Borje Ekholm said the 5G market is growing faster than most analysts have expected and that Ericsson is well positioned to capture this growth.
GSA said there are 70 commercial 5G networks in 40 countries.
With the launch of Softbank’s 5G network, GSA can now confirm there are 70 commercial 5G networks being tracked in the GSA GAMBoD database. Softbank joins NTT Docomo and KDDI providing ultra-fast mobile services in Japan. Rakuten is expected to launch its service on 8 April.
By the end of March 2020 381 operators in 123 countries had announced they were investing in 5G.
A total of 70 operators in 40 countries had launched one or more 3GPP-compliant 5G services.
Of those, 63 operators had launched 3GPP-compliant 5G mobile services (57 full launches, 6 limited availability launches) and 34 operators had launched 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA or home broadband services (27 full launches, 7 limited availability launches).
