DragonWave signs microwave radio deal with Indian telecoms

DragonWave has signed a deal with an Indian telecom company for its microwave radio systems and related services.

DragonWave has received initial orders to provide more than 3,000 turnkey links of its Harmony Enhanced microwave radio system to support the mobile operator’s upgrade and expansion of its nationwide 3G and 4G wireless services in India.

The company did not reveal the name of the operator. Only Airtel and Aircel have presence in both 4G and 3G.

DragonWave’s Bandwidth Accelerator bulk compression capability allows the mobile telecom operator to maximize the capacity achievable in scarce backhaul spectrum. The low latency of DragonWave Harmony Enhanced enables this operator to deliver a comprehensive suite of services including high-quality voice, video and enterprise mobile applications.
